Don't forget: put a lid on it!

Recently, while flying, a flight attendant mistakenly spilt coffee on my seat partners laptop......while it was OPEN. Needless to say, it was quite a disaster. It should go without saying: close your notebook's screen when you OR your neighbors are being served food or drink. Liquid of any kind can seep into your notebook and damage the internal circuitry. So next time: mouth open, laptop closed!

Finding WIFI access when on the road (or even better beforehand)

When I'm getting ready for a trip, I consult with jwire to see where the hotspots are before I depart. Often it pulls through on finding great access in even the most remote locations. For example, I'm headed for Siren Wisonsin (population 992) tomorrow with the family. While I'm there I will very much need to have connectvity, and even AOL doesn't have an access number within 100 miles of the place. Luckily I logged into jwire and discovered that there's a hotspot at a coffee shop right in town.
