Canon lens reviews and data sheets

Here are a few sites I recently found that provide, in my opinion, a reliable resource for information and technical data for Canon EOS lenses. Each site delivers their own unique strengths, whether it is historical, technical, or editorial in nature.

This page from photodo.com has over 900 lenses indexed, however it has not been updated since June of 2000.

This page from the photo.net site is specific to the EOS 300D and 10D, providing great visuals, a comment forum and good, concise summaries.

The Canon web page of course provides the most up to date EOS lens compilation (at least officially).

This link from the luminous-landscape.com website is a nice compendium of most of the L as well as a few of the EF series lenses, easy to navigate and includes URL's to images taken with some of the lenses.

This page from the photonotes.org website is good if you are looking for reviews primarily pertaining to the EF line, providing some good, comprehensive editorial for that series.

The B & H online photo/video/pro audio store is not just unparalleled as far as the sheer volume of items offered, but offers some very competitive prices on Canon lenses as well....

The Epinions.com site makes available user reviews and ratings as well as comparative pricing data on most Canon EF and L series available.

Comprehensive Review of Canon Lenses for their EOS Cameras

The insightful Michael Reichmann has updated his "Canon Lenses, A Personal Selection" article on his excellent site Luminous Landscape.  There are 50 different lenses available for the EOS series of film and digital camera bodies, and Reichmann presents his opinions of most of the options available. Some items of note include:

The default lens that "lives" on his camera is Canon EF 24~70mm f/2.8L USM zoom.

Reichmann own more primes than zoom lenses but asserts that zooms are more versatile and zooms often "make the difference between getting the shot and not."

Canon's lenses are the primary reason that he switched from Nikon to Canon in the mid-1990s. Even though Nikon's offerings were suberb, he found that Canon's selection was broader than any other manufacturer.
